Essex Blue Boat

Essex Township, on the Connecticut River, has a deep-water harbor which attracts ocean going yachts provisioning before undertaking major Atlantic journeys. Because of this, visitors to Essex can often see handsome, ocean-going yachts at anchor in the Essex harbor. With "colder" hills to the North East of the Connecticut River, the "warmer" summer river, often contributes to a micro climate that causes sudden, intense storms. Our picture was taken with a setting sun in the West shining directly onto a visiting "Blue Boat", with a powerful local storm about to break onto the harbor.
